1. Close Other Applications
Make sure no other app (like Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, or OBS) is using your camera or microphone.
Close these apps completely (not just minimize).
2. Disconnect and Reconnect Devices
If you use an external camera or microphone, unplug them and plug them back in.
Try using a different USB port.
3. Restart Your Browser
Fully close all browser windows and reopen your browser.
Log back into the application and try again.
4. Check Privacy Settings (Windows)
Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
Make sure both are set to Allow apps to access your camera/microphone.
Scroll down and ensure your browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox) is allowed.
5. Allow Browser Access
When prompted, click Allow to give your browser access to your camera and microphone.
If you previously blocked access, click the camera/microphone icon in your browser’s address bar to change permissions.
6. Disable Browser Extensions
Some extensions (like ad blockers or privacy tools) can block camera/microphone access.
Temporarily disable extensions and try again.
7. Try a Different Browser
Sometimes, switching browsers (e.g., from Chrome to Edge or Firefox) resolves the issue.
8. Update Your Browser and Drivers
Make sure your browser is up to date.
Update your camera and microphone drivers via Device Manager (Windows).
9. Restart Your Computer
A full restart can resolve device conflicts.

Mic and Camera Permissions Guide (macOS)

- You have not granted Brevity access to your mic/webcam. This is configured within your web browser.
- You have not granted your web browser access to your mic/webcam. This is configured within your macOS system settings.
This article will walk you through configuring both your web browser and macOS system settings.

1. Click the Apple Logo at the top-left of your screen, then click "System Preferences...", as shown below.

3.In the Security & Privacy area of your preferences, navigate to the "Privacy" tab. From here, look for the "Camera" option in the left-hand list and click it. We've provided an image below of where to find the "Camera" option. In the image, notice that "Microphone" is also found in this area.
4. Under the Camera preferences, verify that the checkbox next to your web browser is marked. If you have multiple browsers, consider enabling all of them. Below is a reference image showing multiple browsers enabled.
Note: If your browser does not appear in the list, it means you have not attempted to use Engageli in that browser, yet. Only browsers that have attempted to request access to your camera will appear here.
Once you are done, repeat the same steps for the "Microphone" preferences.
After you have configured the preferences for your Camera and Microphone, you will need to quit and re-open your browser. If you continue to have issues, try restarting your computer to ensure the settings have taken effect.
